Judy Saussy Nelson

Judy Saussy Nelson, age 80, of Pass Christian, passed away on April 16, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Stephen Duncan Saussy in 1977 and George Edward Nelson in 2003; her parents, Harold and Conchetta Weysham; and a sister, Myrna Negrotto.

She is survived by her sister, Faye John (David); her children, Charles Walker Saussy, Suzanne Saussy Lentine (John), Stephen Duncan Saussy, Jr. (Julie), and Ann Marie Saussy-Keel (Denny); 2 step-children, William Horace Nelson and Joshua Michael Nelson; 11 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Nelson was a native of New Orleans and has been a longtime resident of Pass Christian. She was a 1958 graduate of the Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans and she later attended the Louisiana State University. Her career in real estate spanned 13 years and she was currently serving as the church administrator for Holy Family Catholic Church and previously at St. Paul Catholic Church in Pass Christian. Mrs. Nelson was a steadfast and dedicated servant of the Lord and she had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

The family would like to express gratitude to Fr. Mike Austin and the entire Holy Family parish for their love, prayers, and support. The family would also like to thank the staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center and Memorial Hospital at Gulfport for their care and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Holy Family Catholic Church Altar Society.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, from 11 am - 12 noon at Holy Family Catholic Church, 22342 Evangeline Road, Pass Christian, MS 39571. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon in the church. Interment will be in Live Oak Cemetery.
