Marilyn E. Martinsen, 97, a resident of the Forest Grove community, died Friday morning, April 16, 2021, at Pacific Grove in Forest Grove. MARILYN ELINOR MARTINSEN was born October 14, 1923 in Mankato, Kansas, the daughter of the late Emerson Siemon and Josephine (Bard) Siemon. She was raised and received her education in the Mankato community, until of age of eleven years old, she when she moved with her family to Oregon, settling in the Forest Grove community. Marilyn completed her schooling in Forest Grove, having been a graduate of Forest Grove High School Class of 1943. She was united in marriage to Noble Samuel Martinsen on April 15, 1944 in Tallahassee, Florida, while Noble was stationed at Camp Gordon Johnson. Following his discharge in 1946, they moved to Oregon, settling in the Tillamook community. They lived in Tillamook for one year, until 1947, when they moved to their farm in the Hillside district of Forest Grove. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Noble, on February 23, 2004 in Forest Grove, after celebrating over sixty years of marriage together. She was a homemaker. Marilyn was a member of the Hillside Bible Church, the Tualatin Valley Gem Club, the Gales Creek Garden Club and the Quilters Guild at Valley Art in Forest Grove. Among her special interests, she enjoyed rock hunting, quilting, visiting casinos and traveling, having visited the east coast, Kentucky and Branson, Missouri. They also wintered in Tucson, Arizona for several winters. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Emerson and Josephine Siemon; her two brothers, Robert and Roland Siemon; her two sisters, Elizabeth Walmsley and Jo Ellen Cross and her two sons, Robert Martinsen in infancy and Richard “Rick” Martinsen, on October 7, 2020. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Del Nunnenkamp, of Hillsboro, Oregon; her daughter-in-law, Joanna Martinsen, of Forest Grove, Oregon; her brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Doris Siemon, of Hillsboro, Oregon and a special friend, Russ Redmond, of Forest Grove, Oregon. Also surviving are her three grandchildren, Selena Clemens and her husband, Kevin, of Bend, Oregon; Jacob Martinsen, of Forest Grove, Oregon and Erik Martinsen, of Tualatin, Oregon; her four great-grandchildren, Kaylyn Ellis; Alec Ellis; Gideon Noel and Silas Noel and several nieces and nephews. The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the Forest Grove Senior and Community Center, P.O. Box 326, Forest Grove, Oregon 97116, in her memory. Arrangements are entrusted to Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home in Forest Grove.
