Joanne Marie Brooks
Joanne Marie Paonessa Brooks passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving husband John JD Brooks, her sister Irene, friends Martha and Jessica on April 15, at 8:10 am. Joanne was born in Portchester, New York to the late Sam and Teresa (Narcisse) Paonessa of Mamaroneck, New York. After graduating from Marjorie Webster Jr College with an AA degree in merchandising and fashion design, Joanne held various management positions at Woodward and Lothrop in Washington, DC. She eventually changed careers and became a Project Manager for the Children’s Health Network at Catholic Charities in Prince Georges County Maryland. She retired and moved to Princess Anne, Maryland with her devoted husband John in 2012. Joanne became a heroine of animals. She loved her three fur baby dogs Rufus, Harley and Kojo, her two inside cats Oreo and Pippy, her three outside cats Tux, Raven and Pretty Mama and her deceased dogs Princess, Lucky and Sadie and three cats Princess, Taffy and Tuffy. Joanne was very creative and enjoyed crafts, making to order bird houses based on occupations, painting furniture, and collecting frogs of all shapes and sizes. She loved to design and decorate her property with beautiful flowers and a fairy garden. Joanne is survived by her husband John Brooks of Princess Anne, MD, her sister Irene Paonessa of Rehoboth Beach, DE, many cousins and her sister-in law’s Clara, Elaine, Deborah, Evangelene, Rachel, Candy, Darlene and Hildegard and her brother-in laws, Louis, Hardin and Tony and their families. All were from Saint Mary’s County Maryland. She was preceded in death by her brother Richard, sister-in-law’s Faith and Penny, a brother-in-law Randy Sr. and her parents-in-law Louis and Rose Rebecca Brooks. A celebration of life will be held at the Brook’s home at a later date.
