Ruth E. Person

September 24, 1926 – April 13, 2021 85 Year Resident of Santa Cruz County Services will be held on Saturday for Ruth Person who passed away peacefully at her Aptos home at the age of 94. Born in Upland, California, she lived in Big Creek where her father worked at the Edison power plant in the Sierras. Ruth moved to Santa Cruz at the age of nine; attending Mission Hill Jr. High and graduation from Santa Cruz High School. She met the love of her life, Richard Person, an injured US Navy man, recuperating at the Casa Del Rey Hotel. The couple enjoyed traveling, especially going on ocean cruises and were longtime congregants of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Soquel. Ruth volunteered her time with the Red Cross, the Veteran’s Auxiliary, and the Santa Cruz County Election Board. She is survived by her daughter Cathy Adele Person of Capitola, her son and daughter-in-law, Gary Alan and Mary Person of Rogers, Arkansas; her grandchildren, Joei Lynn (David) Enget of Lowell, Arkansas, and Nick Duncan of Maui, Hawaii. Ruth also leaves two great-grandchildren; Aaron David Enget (Sarah) of Hampton, Virginia; Jordon Enget of Texas; and two great great grandchildren; A.J. Enget and Lilah Enget. Ruth was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Vicki Lee Neep in 1997 and her beloved husband of 69 years, Richard in 2014. Friends and family are invited to gather for a memorial ceremony on Saturday April 17, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church (2402 Cabrillo College Drive, Soquel, CA. 95073) beginning at 2 p.m. COVID precaution and protocol will be in place. Ruth was laid to rest in a private ceremony at Oakwood Memorial Park beside her late husband, Richard. Any kind acts of charity can be made to either Mt.
