James J. Ohmert

James J. "Jim, Jimmy John" Ohmert, age 55, of Platteville, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021, at Unity Point Health in Dubuque, Iowa. He was born on July 24, 1965, in Dubuque, the son of Grover and Darlene (Cole) Phend. James attended school, but health concerns prevented him from graduating. He had a love for the outdoors, dogs, and cats, enjoyed country music, and socializing with friends and family. James had a stubborn streak, but also had a smile that could light up a room. He enjoyed the simple things in life and had a happy disposition and was always there for you no matter what. James will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. To know him was to love him. Survivors include his mother, Darlene Wilson, Cuba City; two special brothers that James grew up with: Rodney (Denise) Phend and Carl Phend; many siblings, nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his father, James was preceded in death by his siblings: Dody, Bill, Todd, and Bonnie; and other family members. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 1234 S. Madison, Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne. Family will greet friends on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.
