Eric James Nelson, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.
Eric was born on April 8, 1940 in Glasgow, Scotland a son of the late James and Helen Nelson.
Of course, the early years of his life were under the shadow of WWII, but that also brought him the love of his life.
Eric met Jean (nee Burnet) at 5 years of age in primary school. As boys will do, he showed her affection by dipping her braids in the inkwell.
Eric went on to join the British Airborne Paratroopers in 1958 and remained active for the next seven years. He always said his 19 year old knees didn’t realize the impact all of those jumps out of perfectly good planes would have on his 40 year old body.
Eric and Jean married in 1963, and in 1965 emigrated to the US aboard the Queen Mary. They ultimately settled in Wilmington MA where they raised their family for 46 years.
Eric was a longtime member of AA, where he had a positive influence on many.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Phyllis Valario, her husband John and their son Mario. Also, his two Dobermans: Rothchild the 1st of Glasgow and Rothchild the 2nd of Wilmington.
Eric is survived by his lifelong love Jean, his eldest daughter Kim Nelson of Dracut, his only son Craig Nelson and his wife Michelle (nee Pomerleau) of Andover and his younger daughter Leigh Nelson and her partner Tyler Martin of Stowe, VT, along with his pride and joy, grandsons; Alexander Nelson 21, and Andrew Nelson 20. A few grand dogs and cats as well.
It being his wish, there will be no services.
