Canton-Eula Fouts Smith-89, of Haywood Drive, died Tuesday, October 09, 2001, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was a native of Macon County. She was the daughter of the late Green T. and Minnie Roland Fouts. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred M. Smith who died in 1987. She was a member of Canton First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Baptist Women’s Missionary Union. She is survived by her two daughters; Velda Smathers of Canton, and Linda Raxter and her husband Jerry of Rock Hill, SC, one sister; Blanche F. Reid of Winston-Salem, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2:00pm Thursday, October 11, 2001 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes. The Reverend Dr. Rick Gosnell will officiate. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm until 9:00pm Wednesday, October 10, 2001 at the funeral home. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
