William Henry

William (Bill) Henry, of Bedminster Twp., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 9, 2021. He resided in Jamison for 30 years. Then, moved to Bedminster Twp. in 1990 to be closer to his children. Born March 4, 1932, Bill graduated from Hatboro High School, Class of 1951. Bill married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Olszewksi, of Jamison. They were married for over 50 years until her passing. They had 3 children, Susan L. (nee Henry) Phipps and her husband, Stephen, of Green Lane, PA, William M. Henry and his wife, Joan (nee Meiklejohn), of Bedminster, and Jayne (nee Henry) Howe and her husband, Jesse, of Perkasie. He is survived by 13 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. He was a proud combat Veteran in the Korean War from 1952-1954. He worked at Tinius Olsen for 47 years where he became their top sales leader in testing equipment. He served as President of American Society of Metallurgy (ASM), and received the Metallurgist of the year award from the National Society Philadelphia chapter. Bill sang in the church choir, and was a member of the Singing Squires, which sang and put on shows for charity benefits. Bill was actively involved in the Boy Scouts with his son, and accomplished many things. Bill was the leader in teaching canoeing to the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and taught many scouts the joys of competition canoeing. He was the founder of Paddle Rama which became an annual Summer festival that drew 100’s of scouts each year for a competitive weekend. He, also, did a 120 Mile hike in one week, and guided his son to become an Eagle Scout. He was with Troop 8 of Hartsville for many years. In 1968, Bill was asked to help revived the George Washington Crossing of the Delaware Reenactment, on Christmas Day. He started with one boat and a group of friends and continued the reenactment on Christmas day for 35 years as oarsman on Washington’s boat. His rowing partner and friend was Olympian, Jack Kelly, from Philadelphia. His efforts made the reenactment a national event viewed by people all over the world. Bill was very outgoing and enjoyed meeting people and making friends. He was known to be quick with a joke or a pun, which always brought smiles to everyone he knew or met. He, also, played Racquetball with a group of guys who became very close friends, and met weekly for coffee over the last 30 years. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all. A memorial service and luncheon celebrating Bill's life will be announced at a later date.
