Jacqueline S. Blocker Summit, New Jersey Obituary

Jacqueline S. Blocker

Jacqueline S. Blocker, daughter of Edward D. Joseph and Veronica W. Gilkes, was born on July 3, 1964 in Port of Spain, Trinidad West Indies. On April 9, 2021 Jacqueline fell asleep in death at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Jacqueline, “Jackie” as she was known by most friends and family, spent her primary years in Trinidad before joining family in Hillside, NJ in 1975. While attending High School in Plainfield, NJ she was introduced to her future husband Lamont Blocker. They married in 1984, and began their family shortly thereafter. Jackie symbolized her life by water baptism as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on October 26, 1991. Her devotion and faith allowed her to endure the many health struggles she faced during her 29 years of loyal dedication. Her love for Jehovah God, and the resurrection hope she entertained was always a comfort and anchor during those difficult periods. Jackie held many titles and terms of endearment from those around her. Some called her "Ms. Jackie" or "Sister Blocker"; her grandchildren called her "Honey", but she was most affectionately known as "Mommy" or simply "Wife". Jackie fiercely loved her family and friends, who resided in all places, including the USA, Canada, various Caribbean Islands and other locations. Anyone who knows Jackie well will reminisce on the joy she received from keeping her home pristine, neat, orderly, bleached and pine-sol fresh. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Veronica, her sister Lydia, and her nephew Rawle. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of nearly 37 years Lamont Sr., her children Lamont Jr., Joseph, and Jeanelle, her daughter in-law Katherine, her grandsons Thailan and Lamont III, her father and mother in-law, Lawrence & Janet, brother and sister in-law, Lawrence III & Lori, her siblings, Janice, Marlene, Richard, Shirlene, Sharon and Stephen, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers, and other relatives and friends, all who will greatly miss her. Thoughts of "Jackie Blocker" "One of the biggest tools in life that I use came from a living example, that example was Jackie Blocker; that tool was Determination. You can't live on dialysis for some 29 years without Determination. She would say "you know that the body is breaking down, but I refuse to look broke down", so she would get her hair done every week and nails done almost as often. This made her feel Normal in an unusual situation as she relied on Jehovah's Spirit through the tough times ,and she also knew of Jehovah's tender feelings for her remembering the 34th psalm verse 18 of how close Jehovah is to those brokenhearted due to mankind's plight." - (James Peterkin) Jackie is now in Jehovah's loving memory and will await the call from his son Jesus at the time of the resurrection when all those in the memorial tombs will be awakened. John 5:28,29 "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment." Interment The Hillside Cemetery Scotch Plains, New Jersey Acknowledgement The family of the late Jacqueline S. Blocker would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation for support in its various forms from the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses throughout the many years.
