Joseph Edward Simmons (Jed) was born to Joe and Julie Simmons in San Francisco CA and died in Santa Cruz CA from COPD. He was 69 years old. From birth it was apparent that Jed was going to live life “his way” and that he did! Whether he was blowing up fireworks or coaxing hornets out of their nests, he exhibited a sense of adventure. He had an innate athletic ability, playing baseball, tennis, golf and also loved to swim and ski. His wicked sense of humor and devil-may-care attitude served him well as a student at San Lorenzo High, where he participated in many extra curricular activities including the Redwood Repertory Theater. It was during this time he fell in love with music of all genres, from Jimi Hendrix to Pavarotti. Jed’s gift of gab and persuasion were instrumental in his long and successful career in the world of sales and finance. Those gifts later became an introspective avenue in his passion for writing poetry. The roads he traveled were sometimes rocky, uphill and with detours, yet were always his choice. Jed always relied on God’s helping hand to guide him. Throughout life he remained steadfast and true in his relationships, generosity of service and love of God. He will be missed by a wide circle of friends and family. Jed is survived by his sisters, Jill Simmons (Ann Stadler), Joni Scurich (Rick), Melinda Feldt, brother John Feldt (Rosa) and many loving nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by parents, Joe Simmons, Julie and Rich Lien, sister Luana and brother Gordon.
