Duane Arnette Smaller was born on October 11,1958 to the late Beulah Smaller Lawrence and William D. Bryant in Philadelphia, PA. He departed this life on Sunday April 11, 2021 in Baltimore Maryland.

Duane graduated from Delhaas High School, Bristol Pa 1976 where he enlisted in the United States Army June 25, 1976. During his 20 years in the military, he received many awards, certifications, and honors. He received the 56th Field Artillery Command High performance Award For Excellence during the Persian Gulf January 3, 1989. Duane retired E7 SGT 1st Class of the United States Army on June 30, 1996.

Duane was a lover of music, hunting and online shopping. He enjoyed food and feeding people. More than anything he loved his family and friends.

Duane is survived by his wife of 41 years Juanita Smaller, son Duane R. Smaller, daughter Sonya Smaller, two granddaughters Alexus Smaller and Tytianna Smaller, grandson DaVaun Smaller, great granddaughter Jas’mere Washington, one goddaughter Felicia Smith, sister Yvonne Cartwright, mother in law Doris Brown, four brother in laws, four sister in laws and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded by his mother Beulah Lawrence, father William Bryant, stepfather Charles Lawrence and father in law Leonard Brown Sr.
