Lola Reed Carpenter

On April 11, 2021, Lola Reed Carpenter, age 85, passed away peacefully at her residence in Hagerstown, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 19, 1935 to the late Floyd Hamil Spiker and Sadie Reed (Fox) Spiker in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. Throughout her life she was nothing if not a doting, perpetually loving mother and housewife. She met and married her caring husband Harry Carpenter, and they were married for 25 years. Lola raised her family with love and taught each and every one of them how to love, be strong, and be faithful. She was a devoted member of the Hagerstown Church of the Nazarene for 53 years, and enjoyed taking long drives, listening to music and loved dancing. She is survived by her children Vickie Dobson Stine, Sherry Miller, Millie Myers, Barbara Murray, and Charles Miller, as well as her 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 5 great great-grandchildren her brother Hamil George Spiker of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Harry Carpenter, parents Floyd and Sadie Spiker, and siblings Frank Daniel Spiker, Noel Marie Waugh, Norma Lucille Murphy, and William Spiker. Funeral arrangements are being made at Potomac Valley Cremation Center, 305 N Potomac Street, Hagerstown, MD 21740. A memorial service will take place in the near future. In lieu of flowers, you can make donations in her honor to: Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
