Gloria Norman Obituary

Gloria Jean Norman, age 80, of Nixa, passed away April 10, 2021 in her home. She was born September 2, 1940 in Orla, Missouri, the daughter of Vernon and Edna (Bradford) Lewis. She attended Phillipsburg school, and was a graduate of Conway High School. Gloria moved to Nixa in 1967. On December 23, 1978 she and Bryan Norman were married. Gloria retired from Southwestern Power Administration. She and Bryan were continually active in the church she loved, Nixa Christian Church. She served as church treasurer for a number of years. Gloria enjoyed gardening and tending to her yard. She always looked forward to Christmas, decorating her home and the tree. The family looked forward to the great meals she cooked for them throughout the year. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Bryan in 2019, son-in-law, Bob Grubb, a brother Jim Lewis, and her parents. Survivors include: A son, Bobby Whittaker and wife Karen, of Nixa; a daughter, Pat Grubb of Joplin; step-children, J.P. Norman and wife Sandra of Nixa, Larry Norman and wife Natalie of Coco Beach, Florida, Bryan “Skip” Norman of Kansas City, Missouri, and Donald Norman of Virginia Beach, Virginia; a brother Jerry Lewis and wife Lisa of Lebanon; a sister-in-law Diana Lewis of Springfield; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. A memorial service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, April 15, in Nixa Christian Church with Rev. Ruth Ann Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Gloria’s name may be made to the Nixa Christian Church.
