John Robert Francis McKay, 76 Glace Bay We the family of John McKay are saddened to announce his passing on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 in Halifax. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Craig and Dorothy (Forbes) McKay. Johnny was a lifelong student, always learning. Johnny started his career as an Accountant at Highland Chevolds Glace Bay and concluded his career at New Dawn Enterprises, Sydney. Johnny loved to fish, listen to music (vinyl) and dance. He especially loved the road trips with our Uncle Clarence. John was always a competitor playing floor hockey at Knox Hall. He loved watching hockey especially when the Habs were losing. Countless summers would find Johnny, Jan and John Robert camping on Cheticamp Island with dear friends, Bennie, and Ellen. John is survived by his son: John Robert (Stephanie), three brothers’: Calder (Lee), Keith and Craig “Jr” (Carol), one sister: Camille (Harry). John is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 71 McQuade Lake Crescent, Halifax, N.S. (902) 835-4199. At the family’s request, there will not be any service. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
