Paul P. Williams

<p>Paul Preston Williams, 96, of Ashland, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Hospice Care Center surrounded by those he loved.<br /> Paul was born January 18, 1925 in Flat Gap, KY., a son of the late Dewey and Numa Hitchcock Williams. In addition to his parents, Paul was also preceded in death by a sister Lorrain Baldridge.<br /> Paul&rsquo;s mother died when he was just a toddler. He lived most of his younger years with his grandparents Caleb and Abbie Gail Hitchcock on their farm near the Volga community. Paul often reminisced about his wonderful grandmother &ldquo;maw&rdquo; and of his farm life memories.<br /> After finishing high school, Paul took a job as a Locomotive Fireman on a steam engine in 1944. He then passed his promotion to Locomotive engineer in 1947 with the C&amp;O Railroad and retired with CSX in October 1985. While in high school he served with the ROTC. Paul was also a mason of the Poage Masonic Lodge #325, F&amp;AM and the York Rite Bodies in Ashland. He later joined the El Hasa Shriners (Patrol). Paul often spoke of many things but always said that when he became a Christian that was the best life of all. He was able to tour the Holy Land of Israel many times and several other countries.<br /> Paul was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church and volunteered at Kings Daughters Medical Center for over 25 years.<br /> Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters Diana Ruth Whitt and husband Michael of Russell, Paula Sue Clifton of Paris, KY, his brother Charles Williams and wife Pam of Paintsville, his sister Loretta Conley (the late Charles) of Ashland, his grandchildren Abbie Jayne Whitt, Sean (Rebecca) Whitt, Allison Clifton, Andrea Tracy, Angela Clifton, Marvin Clifton III, James (Bree) Clifton, ten great grandchildren, family friend Anna Harris and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.<br /> Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Monday, April 12, 2021 at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel by Dr. Robert Parsons. Burial will be in the family plot of Johnson County Memorial Cemetery in Staffordsville.<br /> Visitation will be prior to services from 11:00am till service time Monday at the funeral home.<br /> In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul&rsquo;s memory to Community Hospice, 1480 Carter Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101<br /> To share a memory of Paul or to express a condolence to his family, please visit www.steenfuneralhome.com</p>

Paul Preston Williams, 96, of Ashland, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Hospice Care Center surrounded by those he loved.

Paul’s mother died when he was just a toddler. He lived most of his younger years with his grandparents Caleb and Abbie Gail Hitchcock on their farm near the Volga community. Paul often reminisced about his wonderful grandmother “maw” and of his farm life memories.
