UXBRIDGE – Joseph M. Candela, age 65, of Mendon died Friday, April 9th. He was the devoted husband of Linda (Fortier) Candela for 27 years. “Joey” was born on April 9, 1956 to Americo and Evelyn (Dufrense) Candela in Milford. He graduated from Blackstone Valley Tech, with welding as his trade. He worked in metal fabrication until he opened his business “Creative Hobbies” in Mendon, where he owned and operated his hobby store, specializing in model airplanes. Joey was a great friend and loved teaching other people to learn to fly model airplanes. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening and joyriding with his wife in their ’66 Chevelle. He will be greatly missed. In addition to his loving wife, Linda, Joey is survived by his mother: Evelyn Candela of Mendon and his brothers Americo “Rick” Candela, Jr of Mendon, Mark Candela and his wife Yvonne of Mendon and Kevin Candela of Mendon. He was predeceased by his father: Americo Candela. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, April 14th from 4-6 P.M. at Buma Funeral Home, 101 North Main Street, Uxbridge. Facial coverings and physical distancing required. Funeral services and interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joey’s name may be made to: Academy of Model Aeronautics, 5161 E. Memorial Drive, Muncie, IN 47302.
