Doris Ann Stevenson

MARTINSVILLE – Doris Ann (Alexander) Ensey Stevenson, 92, passed away Monday at her home in Martinsville surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 13, 1928 in Mishawaka, Indiana to the late Ralph Alexander and Golda Cox Ohlman. She grew up in Parke County, Indiana graduating from Rockville High School in 1946. She married her high school sweetheart, Philip Ensey, that same year when he returned from WWII. She was always proud of the fact that she worked to put Philip through medical school as a secretary and later as a medical transcription supervisor at the VA Hospital in Indianapolis. They were married for 38 years and raised two children before he preceded her in death in 1983. In 1988 she married John Stevenson. They led a happy life enjoying their lake home, family, friends, beloved grandchildren and travel. They were married for 20 years before he passed away in 2008. Survivors include one son David (Sue) Ensey of Terre Haute, and daughter Sally (Dennis) Anderson of Martinsville; grandsons Alexander (Alex) Anderson, Jonathon (Jonny) Anderson, Jason Ensey, David Stewart, and William (Billy) Arnold; granddaughters Tangela Hardin and Brandi Huber; and several great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Barnabas Church in Indianapolis. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 17th, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, IN with Celebrant Marta Adubato officiating. Inurnment will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville. Visitation is from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Gooch Funeral Home.
