Edward J. Logan Obituary

Edward J. Logan, 78, of Little Silver, passed away on April 9, 2021 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. He was born in Hoboken, NJ to the late James and Gertrude Logan. Ed graduated from St. Joseph of the Palisades High School in 1961 and earned his bachelor’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. On December 10, 1966 he married Jane Stanton. Ed and Jane raised two daughters, Eileen and Stephanie, and one son, Edward Jr. (Ted). Since Jane’s passing in 2004, Ed has been in a loving relationship with Elizabeth Gill, and they have enjoyed many trips and family gatherings together.

Ed worked tirelessly throughout his career, starting at Cluett Peabody & Company and working his way up to Northeast Regional Sales Lead for their Arrow Shirt brand. His career continued through many proud years at JC Penney, followed by his most recent work at Arrow Limousine. Although he rarely slept, Ed never seemed tired. He always had a smile on his face and always lived life in the moment. Ed was passionate about his family and never missed a birthday or anniversary. For many years when his children were young, he was a devoted soccer, softball, and baseball coach. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending as many of their grade school, high school and college events and sports as he could. He was a loving grandfather to Andrew, Kate, and Erin Schlusberg; Patrick, Conor, and Allie Cahill; and Ryan Logan. The Yankees, Jets, and Villanova University are losing a lifelong and loyal fan.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Jane, and is survived by his partner Elizabeth, his three children, Eileen Schlusberg and husband Craig, Ted Logan and wife Colleen, and Stephanie Cahill and husband Brendan; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth’s son TJ Pingitore, wife Samantha and baby TJ, sister Linda DeMatteo and husband Donald, sister-in-law Katherine Saxton and husband Jack, and nieces and nephews Anthony DeMatteo, James DeMatteo, John Saxton, Brenda Saxton, and Suzanne Zimmermann.

A visitation will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank NJ 07701 on Tuesday April 13, 2021 from 5-7pm. A private funeral service will be held for the family on Wednesday April 14th, followed by burial at Saint Anne Cemetery in Wall Township.

Ed received excellent and compassionate care from the nurses and staff at Monmouth Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to Monmouth Medical Center’s Emergency Response Fund: www.rwjbh.org/Monmouth-medical-center/giving/give-now
