Lucinda Melita Sanford-Fraser Bridgewater, Nova Scotia Obituary

Lucinda Melita Sanford-Fraser

This isn’t a traditional obituary, but in a unique format to announce the sudden passing and gone far too soon Lucinda Melita Sanford-Fraser, age-48 on April 7th, 2021. This would have been her style of delivery, with a prompted Alexa Q playing in the background ~ I Think We’re Alone Now, by Tiffany This note is to share publicly a glimpse into the life of one of the most generous and selfless human beings that I had the pleasure to have in my life, my one and only Sissy. Lucinda was cherished, loved and respected by more than we can mention. Her love of the simple things, matter of fact approach, digging in to stay true to her values and free-spirited lifestyle, preferably barefoot and fancy-free Smartie eating hippy. Her place of work was her safe place, where she found comfort and could shine in her own right. To all that worked alongside Lucinda or a patient of care, she adored each and every one of you. Lucinda was a mother (Momma), daughter, sister (Sissy), aunt (Aunty Lu), grandmother (Dubby), niece, cousin, a best friend, and co-worker too many. She adored her children immensely, always putting their needs before her own. Eldest daughter Melita Lynn Sanford (partner Nic Karvelas), most cherished accomplishment, currently studying B.Sc. N at St. FX University. Middle child, Jizelle Nicole Sanford, parent to Lucinda’s grandchildren Karlee and Emilee, who were her world, with them she was complete and without them, she was broken and incomplete. Youngest child, Jaren Justin Joseph Borden, your mom truly believes in you and loved you unconditionally! Unforgettable youngest daughter to Wendy Lynn McLeod (Crouse), Gary McLeod and Roger Leslie Sanford (partner Debbie Haince, ex-wife Cathy, Dan and Courtney Cameron) Headstrong Sissy to Tabitha Lynn Co, Aunty Lu to Ben and Abi Coleman. A free-spirited niece to Kendall Crouse (Pamela & Marcella), Kirby Crouse (Gianna & Justin), Doreen and the late Jim Sanford (Sherrie, Michelle, Jody and Nancy), the late Ronald McLeod, Donald and Donna Melanson Granddaughter to Agnes and Philip Crouse, the late Ron and Olive Mailman, and late Doris Melanson. Godparents, Oliver and Carolyn Levy. To the many other great aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that grew alongside her, she adored you all, with fond memories of Green Bay, Crescent and Risser’s Beach, Heckman’s Island, Lake Sherbrooke and the Tignish Shore. Remember Lucinda for her gazelle stature, free spirit that loved being barefoot and could put a grown man to shame running the length of a gravel driveway or on the highway driving a Harley. Lucinda had a long-standing accomplished career as an LPN for 22-years. Some of her recent career accomplishments was as respected Staff Nurse and Case Manager at Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital, the Centre for Restorative Care Unit, 2007 ~ 2020. Following a severe car accident and against many odds she made a full recovery and with pride she returned to work as a Staff Nurse with the Wellness Centre for Addictions and Mental Health in 2021. To her Fab Five + One group of unwavering best friends and co-workers Sueann Meisner, Melanie Corkum, Annette Rogers, Rosanne Tanner and plus one Shane Huey. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing and loving Lucinda. Your unwavering friendship meant the world to her and she loved you all unconditionally. We all miss Lucinda immensely; our hearts are broken and our journey has now been altered by this ripple effect. As we all work through this time of grief, we must collectively move forward and respect Lucinda for her strength in this decision in staying true to her life journey and move forward with our own, appreciating each day and those in our lives. This would be her wish! “This decision was mine and mine alone. My journey is complete and I’m going home.” ~ Lucinda With respect to Lucinda beliefs, cremation will take place at Sweeny’s Funeral Home in Bridgewater. Burial will take place at the Dayspring Cemetery at a later date with immediate family only. A celebration of her life will take place sometime this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital, Wellness Centre for Addictions and Mental Health. Online condolences may be made by visiting the www.sweenysfuneralhome.com
