James Robert Peltier Obituary

JAMES ROBERT PELTIER, 89, of Whiting, NJ, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. He was born in Lakewood Twp., NJ, and resided in Jackson Twp., NJ for 42 years, prior to settling in Whiting, 11 years ago. James was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean War and received the Bronze Star Medal, Japanese Occupation Medal, the Korean Service Medal w/5 Bronze Stars and the Combat Infantry Badge. He was self employed as a well driller for A & J Well Drilling, Jackson Twp., for 40 years prior to his retirement in 1993. James was a member of the Jackson Mills Vol. Fire Company (Sta. 54), and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4703, both in Jackson Twp. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond Arthur Peltier and Lorretta Peltier; his brother, Albert Arthur Peltier; and by his sisters, Catherine Jean Connover, Barbara Kennedy, Mary McCurdy, and Gladys Reese. James is survived by his wife of 67 years, Colleen M. Peltier; his son, James Robert Peltier, Jr.; his daughter Jean Colleen Kirkland; his grandchildren, Crystal Ann Peltier (who James raised as his daughter) and James Gilbert Kirkland; his great-grandchildren, Evan Riley Peltier, and Lincoln Elia-James Bartuck; and by his sister, Loretta Dolores Buchanan. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial visitation from 2-5 PM followed with Military Honors at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family in The Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
