Elwood Wyatt Obituary

Elwood Wyatt was born on March 20, 1949 to the Late Milton V. Kellam and Helen Louise (Wyatt) Kellam.  He peacefully departed this earthly life on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at his Salisbury, Maryland home.

Elwood lived his adult life in Salisbury, MD.  Elwood attended Accomack, VA County Public Schools and was a graduate of Mary N. Smith High School, the Class of 1967.

Elwood Wyatt was drafted into the United States Army in 1968 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. After his release from Active Duty, he later joined the United States Army Maryland National Guard with the HHC 115th Military Police BN. He was subsequently assigned as a 1SG for the 243rd ENGR CO Detachment of Reisterstown, Maryland. He completed his last years with the 1229th TRANS CO Crisfield, Maryland when he was deployed to IRAG.

1SG Elwood Wyatt retired March 20, 2009, after a total of 41 years in Service.

Elwood worked for Campbell Soup of Salisbury, MD, and Drug Interdiction and Eradiation for the Military.

Elwood was a member of the following organizations: VFW Post # 10159, Queen City Lodge #1051 known as the (ELK’s), The American Legion Post # 145, Merciful Order of Cootee Puptent # 27, all of Salisbury, Maryland, Former Member East Gate Lodge #69 Princess Anne, Maryland, and a Mason member of The Most Merciful Grand Lodge #69 of Maryland.

Elwood was the Post Commander of The American Legion Post #145 and the past Wicomico County Commander for the South Eastern Shore District of the American Legion.

He was a kindhearted, and generous man who loved his family and friends. Elwood was always willing to help anyone in need.  He enjoyed laughter and good food. He loved his role as a devoted and committed father and grandfather. His two favorite activities were spending time with his family and fishing. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.

Elwood leaves to cherish in loving memories: daughter: Claudia (Edward, Sr.) Reese of Lewes DE; two sons: Kenneth C. (Dorothy) Wyatt Sr. of Delmar, MD, Elwood Milton (Melissa) Wyatt of Salisbury, MD; grandchildren: Edward Reese, III, Aaliyah Reese, Jocelyn (Freddie) Bowe, Kristoff Cannon, Kenneth C. Wyatt Jr., Ava Wyatt, Xavier Wyatt; great grandchild:  Kensley Wyatt; an aunt: Corrine Sturgis of Painter, VA; an uncle: David Wyatt of Painter, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended relatives; close friends who he cherished as brothers and sisters:  Troy (Karen) Cannon and John (Bonita) Terry.

His parents: Milton V. Kellam and Helen Louise (Wyatt) Kellam; and uncles: Preston Sturgis, Chester Wyatt, James Wyatt, and an aunt: Mary Taylor, all preceded him in death.
