Also left to mourn her passing are her siblings, Julie Foidart, Armand (Yvette), Mathilde Fifi, Jeanne Fiola, Lucien (Simone), Germaine Suchard, Gaston (Heather), Emile (Sylvie) Hacault, brother-in-law Michael Solodiuk as well as numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Louise was predeceased by her husband Archie (2019), son Gabriel (2011), siblings Hubert (Marie), Msgr. Antoine, Celine (Maurice) Tack, Benoit (Monica), Jean (Odile, Lucile), Michel (Patricia), Roland Hacault, Anna (Simon) Foidart, Adolphe Foidart, Louis Fiola, Jean Fifi, Joe Suchard, Dorothee Solodiuk, parents Francois Hacault and Irma (nee Mangin), parents-in-law Ivo DeSpiegelaere and Alice (nee Mattheews),  brother-in law Jerome (Madeline) DeSpiegelaere and by sister-in law Judith (Richard) Ketsman.

Louise was born on June 25, 1923 in Bruxelles, Manitoba, the third child of François and Irma Hacault. She attended St. Marie School in Bruxelles for 8 years. In 1933, after the birth of her tenth child, Louise’s mother passed away. Her father remarried in 1936 to Agathe (Angers) and together they welcomed another 8 children. From a very young age, Louise helped care for her siblings, cooked, cleaned, did chores, gardening and canning. They were a very close knit family and as mom often said “we were best friends”.

Louise married Achille DeSpiegelaere, youngest son of Ivo and Alice (Mattheews) on October 25, 1948. Together, they took over the DeSpiegelaere homestead and raised four sons. Louise worked hard on the farm, teaching her boys the value of hard work and caring for the land. Mom milked many cows, had a huge garden (with lots of potatoes to feed those hungry boys!) canned countless jars of preserves and baked many loaves of bread! We have fond memories of coming home from school and being greeted with the delicious aroma of fresh bread!

Louise and Archie retired in 1981 and moved to Holland, Manitoba, leaving the farm to their son, Gabriel. During retirement, mom kept busy babysitting, singing in the church choir, gardening, knitting, spending time with her grandchildren and get togethers with her brothers, sisters and friends. She enjoyed traveling to Ontario to visit Laurie and Maggie’s family. Mom loved to walk! She walked whenever she could, rain or shine! Mom also loved pictures! She had many, many albums and her walls and fridge were covered with pictures of her children and grandchildren.

Mom moved to the Holland Manor in June 2011 where she actually retired! She enjoyed the friendship of the residents and some of the group activities especially saying the rosary together. Mom was a great believer in prayer. She would encourage us to pray one “Hail Mary” a day. Mom’s strong faith helped her accept many life challenges.

Mom was a kind, patient, gentle and loving person who taught us to be thankful for every day and to be responsible and respectful individuals. Thanks Mom for everything you did for us and for all the beautiful memories. Miss you and love you forever.

The family would like to thank Dr. Prud’homme and the staff at the Tiger Hills Health Centre for their care and compassion.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Saturday April 17, 2021 in the St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, Holland MB with Father Joseph Tran as Celebrant.  Interment to follow in the St. John Berchmans Parish Cemetery.
