Bernice A. Walter Obituary

Bernice Arlene Walter Mom was born, Bernice Arlene to Melvin and Mabel Kjosen on Dec. 22, 1930 in Velva, ND. She was the second of 5 children and the only Girl. They were wheat farmers in NW ND. and ended up in White Earth, ND. where the family still farmed up until a few years ago. She met and married “Bud” Virgil Lidstrom on Nov. 23, 1950 in Palermo, ND. They lived in North Dakota, Montana, Washington, settling in Vancouver in 1963 and longtime members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Bernice and Bud had 5 girls; Val, Teri, Diane, Paula, and Lori. We are all married and Mom always said she finally got her (5) boys. Dad died in an auto accident in 1977. Before that she was a stay at home Mom. She did day care type babysitting, but only one child/family at a time. She started driving school bus after the youngest of us was in all day school. She continued until she retired and loved being with the kids all day. “Pop’s” James Walter and four more siblings, (Wade, Todd, Sheryl, and Darryl), came into our lives in 1982 when they were married. So, now there are 9 children 15 Grandchildren and 5 Great grandchildren. Mom was never happier than when the house was full of the commotion and ciaos of Family together. Mom and Pop’s were members of Elim Lutheran in Hockinson. They were Mesa, AZ. snowbirds for the last many years. They and the dog love the winter climate and all the new friends they made. Trailer life was their biggest hobby, traveling through WA., OR., CA., AZ., NV., MT., ND., ID. visiting family and friends all along the way. Bernice was a long time member of the Son’s of Norway hall. She was able to travel to Norway 3 times and always very thankful of that fact. The family is asking for any memorials be donated to your local HOSPICE Org. in memory of Bernice Walter. If you have not had the opportunity of being blessed by the loving, people whom work and volunteer through this organization, check them out. We think they were our Angels during this time of such grief. If you cannot support financially, try to volunteer if you have the heart for it. Thank You, the Family of Bernice “Lidstrom” Walter.
