Elias Romero Orona Obituary

On March 30, 2021, at 90 years of age, Bishop Elias Romero Orona, surrounded by his lovely wife, and all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, went home to be with the Lord.

Elias was born in Mesilla, New Mexico on July 27, 1930.   He attended Gadsden High School in Anthony, New Mexico. From a young age he lived and worked on the Orona Family ranch with his father. He joined the Army and served in the National Guard.

Bishop Elias Romero Orona, from his youth, loved and excelled in the sport of baseball.  Elias was given the opportunity to pursue a career playing professional baseball, he was sought out by scouts from the Saint Louis Cardinals organization, but God had greater plans for his life.  After coming to know Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, Bishop found a greater passion than his passion for baseball, he found a passion for reaching those who did not know his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He became a minister of the gospel, in the Church of God of prophecy.  He faithfully served in the Church for 63 years, in various states, he pastored the flock and served as District Overseer, and evangelized in many places in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

In his ministry he was not satisfied to just serve as a local pastor, but he also had a calling and passion to take the gospel to areas that had not yet established churches, and he was successful in planting new work in those new areas and new churches were organized in those new areas behind his work, sweat, tears and prayers for those new areas. He just loved bringing the good news to the unchurched. He is remembered and loved by many for his love for their souls.

After 63 years of church service, On June 6, 2015, Bishop retired due to his health, from Pastoring at the Church of God of Prophecy in Temecula, California. After retirement God continued to greatly bless his ministry. He would say he did not need a pulpit to tell People about Jesus.

It just filled his heart when he saw people transformed by coming to know Jesus. It was his greatest joy.   He loved his church families dearly and compassionately and always felt it a privilege and a joy to pastor the flock. He had a fervent prayer life for the flock, the unbeliever, and the sick.

Our lives will never be the same without you Bishop, dad, grandpa, great grandpa.
we love and miss you so much already.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Angela Sadie Romero Orona, his 5 children, Joel Orona of Menifee, Manuel Orona of  Murrieta, Delia Orona of Sun City, Elias Orona Jr of Murrieta, Becky Orona Gutierrez of Menifee, his 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Raquel Orona; his sister Lydia Gonzalez; his brothers Moises Orona, Pablo Orona, Severiano Orona, Benjamin Orona and Daniel Orona, Eliseo Orona, and Solomon Orona.

Romans: 10:9
Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
