Funeral services for Mrs. Berneice Levenia Thomas, 70, of Blythewood, South Carolina will be held 11:00 am  Wednesday April 14, 2021 at the Ft. Jackson National Cemetery 4170 Percival Road Columbia, South Carolina, there will be a viewing on Tuesday from 12:00 to 7:00 pm at the Pearson's Funeral Home Columbia, South Carolina. Before the rising of the morning sun on April 6, 2021, God dispatched an angle to this earthly garden to gather one his precious flowers at Providence Hospital NE in Berneice Levenia Holmes Thomas. God had decided that she had reached her earthly maturity and a angle with a delicate touch plucked her up and now she adorns a special place in God's landscape. Berneice, the youngest of three siblings was born in Columbia, SC on July 21, 1950 to the late Deacon John Holmes, Sr. and Deaconess Hattie Holmes. She was nurtured as a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church of Lyon Street from her early age to adulthood. She attended the Richland County Public Schools was a member of the graduating class of 1969 at C.A. Johnson High School.She later earned and conferred  a Bachelor of Science Degree from Jones College in Jacksonville, Fl. in December 2001. She received a certicate of Achievement in the Ministerial Studies from Morris College in 2019 and was Licensed to Preach the Gospel. In June of 1972 Berneice was united in Holy Matrimony to Zebedee Thomas ("her high school sweetheart") and from that union they were blessed with forty nine years of love and dedication to each other. There union was blessed with two children. She was a caring and dedicated mother and was a true Navy wife while enduring Zebedee"s deployments during his 22 year career service. Berneice was preceded in death by her father, Deacon John G. Holmes, Sr. her mother; Deaconess Hattie Holmes; and sister; Cynthia Holmes. She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted husband Deacon Zebedee Thomas; two children: Christopher Thaddeus Thomas (Felicia) of Jacksonville, Fl., Mia S. Thomas-Patterson (Basil) of Charlotte, NC. Three grandchildren; Erin T. Thomas of Florence, SC, Christopher X. Thomas of Jacksonville, Fl. and Hannah S. Patterson of Charlotte, NC. Brother; John G. Holmes Jr. (Elloree) of Pooler GA. A special goddaughter Angela Riley-Maxwell ( Anthony) of Jacksonville, Fl. and a host of brother and sister in-laws, nieces, nephews and devoted friends.
