Elizabeth Hammargren passed away on April, 7, 2021 at the age of 26 from a 12 year battle with a mitochondrial disease called MNGIE.
Elizabeth was born on June 29, 1994 in Belleville, Illinois.
She graduated from Miami University of Ohio in 2017 with a degree in Marketing and was employed by Smuckers as a sales analyst.
Elizabeth will be remembered for her beautiful smile, quick wit, humor, positivity, determination and ability to be kind no matter what obstacles she faced. She had an exceptional ability to express herself by writing heartfelt and loving letters. Elizabeth believed that life is measured by quality relationships, love and memories. She never took anything for granted and lived life to the fullest. She loved spending time with her family, friends and her puppy, Mia. She had a love of travel and was able to have many memorable trips abroad and within the United States.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her grandfather, Joe Domin. She is survived by her loving parents, Scott and Mary Hammargren; her brother, Stephen (Hannah); her grandmothers, Virginia Mullins and Barbara Domin and grandparents, Bill and Linda Hammargren, uncles, aunts and cousins.
The family would like to thank Dr. Leorah Freeman at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin for her care and compassion toward Elizabeth and helping her find answers about her disease. Donations may be made to United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation (UMDF) in memory of Elizabeth.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Avenue, San Antonio, Texas, 78212.
