Phippsburg- Robert Freeman Moore, better known as Red, age 85 passed away on April 8, 2021 in Bath. Robert was born in Bath, ME on Nov 24, 1935 to Sewall C. and Ethel (Lander) Moore. He resided in Phippsburg for most of his life.

In April of 1953 he married Carolyn Caton and later that year enlisted in the U.S. Army. He proudly served from 1953-1957. Red was a lifelong local clam digger and had also been a woodsman and worked for a short time at B.I.W. Harding’s plant. He was one to always have a story and enjoyed nature and the outdoors. Past hobbies were hunting, fishing and wood carvings as well as a passion for history.

Red is survived by his three daughters; Elaine and husband Steven Rowe of Brunswick, Kathy and partner Joe Jenness of Augusta, and Lynnette Hill of West Bath; as well as five granddaughters; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and his sister Mary Cray of Richmond.

He was predeceased by his wife Carolyn; brother Lewis (Tinker) Moore and sister Beverly Smith.

At Red’s request there will be no services. Burial will take place at Morningside cemetery in Phippsburg.

In lieu of flowers, in order to help with final expenses, donations for Robert can made directly to Desmond Funeral Home.
