Margaret "Marg" Ann Pierson Obituary

Margaret Ann Faulkner Pierson, 89, of Gooding passed away April 7, 2021, at her home.

Marg was born in Los Angeles, California, on March 8, 1932, to Edna Edholm Hendry. Following her mother’s death Marg moved to Gooding, Idaho where she was adopted by her parents - Ralph and Edith (Edholm) Faulkner. She was raised in Gooding with her three brothers and graduated from Gooding High School in 1950.

Marg attended the University of Idaho for one year and was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Though her time there was short Marg was a lifelong Vandal and sorority sister. She left Moscow to come home and marry her husband of 51 years, Marvin Pierson. Marg and Marvin were married on September 28, 1952.

Marg was briefly employed at the county assessor’s office before starting her family. She was an integral part of the Pierson Farms and Pierson Construction businesses that she and her husband started. Marg was also a frequent substitute teacher at the Gooding High School and fondly remembered by many former students. She was often approached years later by these students to reminisce over times at Gooding High School. As her children grew, she later enjoyed selling real estate.

Marg was active in many organizations including Eastern Star, PEO, the Methodist Church, and the Gooding Country Club. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and was a member of multiple bridge clubs. Marg was a strong supporter of the Gooding Schools, volunteering time in the classroom, providing team dinners, and cheering on the athletes. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, friends, and family, but her favorite vacation memories were the summers spent at Redfish Lake. Marg was an incredible entertainer and cook with her door always open and the coffee on. She could throw a meal or party together at a moments notice. The start of the pheasant hunting season was always a special occasion and Marg was famous for her fried pheasant dinners she prepared for friends and family.

Marg is survived by: daughter - Nancy (John) Etchart; sons - Pat (Mary) Pierson, Tim (Cathi) Pierson and Ted (Bille) Pierson, all of Gooding; grandchildren - Ryan (Jenny) Etchart, Travis Etchart, Sarah (Mitch) Sorensen, Megan (Sean) Jantz, Corri Pierson, Kyli Pierson, Kash Wilson, and Jed Pierson; six great-grandchildren; and brothers - John (Jodi) Faulkner and Fred (Susan) Faulkner.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother Jim; and many dear friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at the Gooding United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery followed by dinner at the Gooding Country Club.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Gooding United Methodist Church or the Gooding Country Club.
