Christina A. Macmurphy
Christina “Chris” Astrid Macmurphy, 65, a 20-year resident of Riva and previously of Clinton, MD, passed peacefully at her residence on April 7, 2021 after a seven-year battle with ovarian cancer. Chris was born on April 28, 1955 in Aurora, CO to the late Nils and Rosemarie Nilsson. She joined the U.S. Army in 1980, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant and earning the National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon and Expert Field Medical Badge before being honorably discharged in 1991. From 1992 to 2019, she worked as a LPN/Admissions Director at Bradford Oaks Nursing and Rehab Center in Clinton. She was a member of Joy Reigns Lutheran Church and was known for her vivacious personality, positive attitude, “green thumb” and love of gardening. Cherished wife, mother, sister, and aunt, Chris is survived by her husband, Shawn of 33 years; their son, Brandon and daughter-in-law, Trish of Searcy, AR and sister, Ingrid Reed (Gene) of Davidsonville, MD. Services for Chris will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Joy Reigns Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 1436, Edgewater, MD 21037.
