Emily Jane Leigh Obituary

Emily Jane Walther Leigh, "Emmy", 33, born in St. Louis, MO., 7-17-87, raised in the Kirkwood area and left us suddenly quietly slipping out the door due to epilepsy on 4-6-21. She leaves behind but continues to watch over her daughter Sophia Leigh, former husband and dear friend Nathan Leigh, parents Tom and Leslie Walther, twin sister Carrie Kinnison, brother in law Charlie Kinnison, niece Nora and nephews, Noah and Isaiah Kinnison. Aunts, Uncles and cousins. The Leigh family, Tom, Jean Anne, Caleb and Desmond. Special friends, Emily Kierznowski and her family and Luke Harris. Too many friends to count and patients from her Dad's dental practice and of course her dogs, Barron, Maggie and Bear. Emmy was very proud to be a daughter, twin sister , wife, flag waving US citizen, KU fan, friend to everyone she met and most important of all, a mother to Sophia. She loved to read, learn and do for others. All qualities she passed along to Sophia. She graduated from Kirkwood High School in the class of 2006 where she was a whiz at Math, History, Science and English. She attended Kansas University and became a serious, lifelong KU fan. She single handedly ran her Dad's dental office where everyone who walked in the door was met by her gentle nature and a warm smile and then left through the same door a better person for knowing her. She was 8 months away from graduating from Forest Park Community College nursing program and had several job offers already. One of which was in the same Neuro ICU she spent much of the fall of 2019 undergoing multiple brain surgeries, all while maintaining her status as one of the top students in her class. In keeping with Emmy's spirit of giving to others and spreading joy and kindness, please consider donating to an educational trust for her daughter, Sophia or an animal rescue, Midamerica Transplant or TheShopForward.com Donations for Sophia may be sent to: First Community Credit Union, 12340 Manchester Road, Des Peres, MO. 63131.
