<p>Miss Alene Melvin, 77, of 1080 Roberts Grove Road, Dunn, passed away April 7, 2021.&nbsp;The family will receive friends at the home of&nbsp;Evangelist James Melvin, 507 East Cleveland Street, Dunn.&nbsp;She was born November 21, 1943 in Sampson County, the daughter of the late Albert and Christine Melvin.&nbsp;She was a member of Pleasant Grove FWB&nbsp;Church under the leadership of Pastor Larry Baker, whom she called her big brother.</p> <p>She leaves to cherish her memories:&nbsp;two brothers - Albert Melvin, Jr. (Beverly) of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Earl Davis Melvin (Deborah) of Newton Grove; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.</p> <p>The public viewing will be Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at&nbsp;the Dafford Funeral Home, Dunn, from 1:00 pm&nbsp;- 6:00 pm&nbsp;with no&nbsp;more than 10 individuals inside at one time, practicing social distancing.&nbsp;Masks are required to enter.</p> <p>The graveside service will be Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at&nbsp;11:00 am at&nbsp;the Resthaven Cemetery, Dunn, with no more than 50 people present, practicing social distancing.&nbsp;Masks are required.</p>

I met Alene while working at cornerstone. I worked as a cna for years with her. She was one of the sweetest residents I’ve ever had. She will be greatly missed❤️
