Marsha Kay McLaughlin

Marsha Kay McLaughlin, 59, passed away peacefully March 30, 2021after a valiant battle with Alzheimers. She was born September 27th, 1961 in Monroe, WI to Rose and Richard McLaughlin. At her birth she was brought to her mother in a beautiful swiss dress. The family moved to Sterling, Il where Marsha and her 3 sisters were raised and attended Sterling schools. Marsha in high school was on the swimming team and the basketball team who went to state. The family then moved to Edgerton, WI when Marsha became a senior and she graduated from Edgerton High School. Marsha then attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and then became employed at Dorsey Trailers where her father was a supervisor. After experiencing factory work she attended airline school and became employed at Midwest Express in Milwaukee where she had relocated. Marsha then moved to Chicago and became employed at Quad Graphics as a graphic art designer. She then met and married John Duerr and moved to Oak Lawn, Il where she loved her home and her animals. She was passionate about and was an advocate for all animals, companion and wild. She loved her dogs Otis and Emily, her cats Quasar, Smilla and Zenith. Marsha loved adventure and had so many interests, She liked big cities, was an avid reader, loved music and traveling and had a very large world map that she put up so she could see the all the places she dreamed about visiting one day. She loved the Brookfield Zoo where she was a volunteer and a great place to explore with her family. She was schooled as a bartender, baker and photographer. She loved her family and friends and all loved parties at Marsha’s house, she had a vivacious personality and was known for her wit. She had a collection of hats and picture time included everyone gathering wearing one of her hats. She was especially close to her sister Susie and they shared lots of time together. She was a beloved aunt, a day spent with Marsha was day of fun and adventure. She would spoil them and ensure lots of laughs; she was always interested in what her nieces and nephews had to say and what their interests were. She would take them on trips to Chicago, train and cab rides. One trip was on a large speed boat from the Navy Pier. She fiercely loved and will be greatly missed by nieces Jennifer Nesbitt and Brandi Miatke, nephews Garrett Johnson, Myles Johnson, Max Klimaszewski, Jason Klimaszewski and Dalton Miatke. Marsha is survived by her mother, Rose McLaughlin, her sisters and brothers In law, Julie (Doug) Johnson, Mary (Michael) Miatke, Susan (Chad) Klimaszewski. She was also close to her cousins Rebecca and Marcy McGinn and her aunts Kathy McGinn and Helen McAndrews. She was preceded in death by her father Richard, her uncles Leo McAndrews and Bert Jones, aunt Kathryn Jones, cousins Elaine, Barbie and Mary Beth Jones and her grandparents Helen Ebersole, Edward McAndrews and Alice McLaughlin. The family would like to send special thanks to everyone that stepped up and helped Marsha on her final journey. The staffs at Mercy and Monroe hospitals, Vicky O’Donnell of ADRC, New Glarus Home, Azura Memory Care, Inclusa with an extra special thank you to Lacie Dotson who protected and provided guidance to Marsha and her family. Marsha made great friends wherever she lived and worked and the family sends condolences to all of them. Marsha had so many more years to live her life and the family is devastated by her loss. We will greatly miss her wonderful spirit, huge heart and her enthusiasm for life. We hope that her legacy is to encourage people to follow their dreams and passions and help make this planet a better place for people and all the animals. A "Celebration of Life" visitation will be Saturday July 31, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at the Albrecht Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Milton. The Albrecht Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Milton is assisting the family with arrangements.
