Obituary Ruth Ina Smith, 94, of Findlay passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Hancock County on May 26, 1926 to the late Harvey E. and Hazel M. (Aurand) Povenmire. She married Daniel W. Smith on May 25, 1946 and he preceded her in death on January 31, 2002. She is survived by a son, Dan (Patricia) Smith; a daughter, Deanna Lackey; four grandsons, Kevin (Marilou) Smith, Jason Smith, Nick Smith and Jeremiah (Heather) Lackey and three great-grandsons, Kevin Smith, Kaiden and Corbin Lackey. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ralph and sisters, Betty, Eva, Lois and Mary Ellen. She was a 1944 graduate of Findlay High School and received her undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University in 1974. She started the first pre-school for the 'special children' of Hancock County and retired in 1985. Ruth started her bowling career in 1957 at Jonny Appleseed Lanes in Arlington. Her high game was 196 and her high series was 448. She served in many positions within the local, state and National Women's Bowling Associations. Ruth also helped to organize the Youth Bowling program in Ohio. She was also inducted into the Ohio Bowling Hall of Fame in 1990. She was also an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns.Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Monday, April 12, 2021 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Dan Metzger officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm-6:00pm Sunday and for one hour prior (12:00pm-1:00pm) Monday at the funeral home.
