<p>Daisy McGonigal, 83, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at Oakdale Nursing Center, Poplar Bluff, MO. Daisy was born in Poplar Bluff, MO, on July 12, 1937 to parents Ralph Alford and Opal Ruby Pearl (Porch) Foust.</p> <p>Daisy was born and raised in Poplar Bluff, MO. She married Otis N. McGonigal on August 16, 1956. After obtaining her degree in education, specializing in Home Economics and Nutrition, she and Otis moved their family to Piedmont, MO, where she worked for twenty-five years as the Home Economics Teacher. After retirement, she went on to teach adult education until she was eighty years of age.</p> <p>Daisy joined the Catholic Church in 1965 and was highly active in the church. She loved cooking for the pastors and was famous for her hot yeast rolls that she brought to every church function. Cooking for family was her passion. Everyone looked forward to the holidays as she made sure that the food was always memorable. Daisy loved all types of flowers and blooming trees. She spent countless hours planting flowers each spring and tending to them throughout the summer months. She also enjoyed driving around the countryside enjoying God&rsquo;s creation.</p> <p>Daisy showed her love by pouring her heart into her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, church and seventy-nine foster children. She lived the &ldquo;what-so-ever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me&rdquo; to the fullest! She was well known for her quick wit and dry sense of humor.</p> <p>In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years; infant daughter: Linda Kay McGonigal; brothers: infant Larry Foust and Ralph Foust Jr.; brother-in-law: Robert E. Christian; son-in-law: Larry Vernon Payton.</p> <p>Daisy is survived by her children: Kristy Crandall and husband Mike, Rhonda Payton Boyer and husband Bob, Tracy Griffin and husband Roy, Mike McGonigal, and Dan McGonigal; grandchildren; Jeff Payton, Jason Payton and wife Nicole, Janna Owens and husband Josh, Patrick Cooper, Felicia Harris and husband Josh, Ginger Boyer and husband Kyle, Bobby Boyer and wife Kelly; great-grandchildren: Logan Boyer, Ethan Boyer, Luke Payton, Lexy Harris, Chloe Harris, Zach Harris, Annie Payton, Alice Payton, Grant Owens, Emilia Grace Owens, Grayson Owens; brother: Don Foust and wife Barb; sister Diane Christian; sister-in-law: Pat Foust; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends. Daisy will be greatly missed.</p> <p>Visitation was held at 5:30 pm, Friday, April 9, 2021, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral mass was held at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 10, 2021, at St. Catherine&#39;s Catholic Church, Piedmont. Father Dan Hirtz ministered to the family. Jeff Payton, Jason Payton, Patrick Cooper, Donnie Foust, Josh Owens, Roy Griffin, Rob Pierce, Jeff Kearbey served as pallbearers. Luke Payton served as honorary pallbearer.
