<p>Chad VanMeter, 38, of Petersburg, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. He was born October 25, 1982 in Evansville to his loving parents, Kim and Karen (Riddle) VanMeter. He graduated from Wood Memorial High School and continued his education through the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 181 Apprenticeship Program. Chad married Katie (Riley) VanMeter on May 5, 2007 and they were blessed with almost 14 years together. He worked for Operating Engineers Local 181 for 20 years as a crane operator and recently as a business agent. He enjoyed hunting with his family, sports, and coaching his kids&rsquo; football and baseball teams. Chad was an avid gun collector and enthusiast and enjoyed reloading.&nbsp;</p> <p>Along with his wife, Katie VanMeter of Petersburg and parents, Kim and Karen VanMeter of Oakland City, Chad is survived by his children, Kaden and Kinze VanMeter of Petersburg; brother, Ryan VanMeter (Cassey) of Oakland City; mother and father-in-law, Janice and Lloyd Riley of Petersburg; brothers-in-law, David Riley (Kay) of Petersburg and Nick Riley (Denee) of Newburgh; nieces and nephews, Ali, Eli, Ashli (Landon), Josh (Alexis), Madison,&nbsp;MiKayla, Cody, and Beau;&nbsp;geat-niece and great-nephew, Landri and Krew; and several close friends, amazing coworkers, and union brothers.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Katherine Riddle; paternal grandparents, James and Mary Louise VanMeter; and grandmothers-in-law, Lora Riley and Frances Denton.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City officiated by Pastor Matt Malin, Bruce Lane &ldquo;Batman&rdquo; and Phil Moore. Burial will follow at Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City. A visitation will be held from 4 util 7:00 PM Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the funeral home. At this time, masks are optional and social distancing is required inside the funeral home.&nbsp;</p> <p>For those who wish, memorial contributions may be given to the Pike Central Athletics Department located at 1810 E. St. Rd. 56, Petersburg, IN 47567. Obituary
