Christine L. Robbins

Christine L. Philbrook Robbins, age 89, passed away on April 7, 2021 at Waldo County General Hospital , following a stroke while residing at Harbor Hill in Belfast for a short time. Christine was born on July 13, 1931 to Bernice (Morey) and Arthur Philbrook. Christine was one of eleven children born to Arthur and Bernice. She grew up in Appleton and attended early years at Burkettville School and later at the Appleton Village School. She graduated from the Appleton Village High School in 1950. Christine married Neil R. Robbins on May 12, 1951. In the early years of their marriage they built their home where they resided for nearly 70 years for their entire married life. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and "nana" pouring her love out to those who were around her. In many years past, she belonged to the Appleton Community Club working many benefit suppers, either for those in need or for the club itself to help raise money for its existence. She enjoyed the Appleton Alumni which was held every June. Christine Couldn't wait to see everyone and reminisce about the "good old days". She was a marvelous cook which was enjoyed by many. She worked at the Appleton Village School on the hot lunch program with her mother-in law Frances. Following that she was a homemaker/companion for Virginia McElwee who she worked for over 30 years. "Ginny" turned out to be much more than an employer. She was a devoted friend and confidant and they enjoyed each other's company immensely. In October of 1977 she became "nana" to her first born grandchild Ryan and in November of 1978 she once again owned the title "nana" to her granddaughter Marci. Both were the love of her life and years were spent with nana and pa. Many lessons were taught and expected to follow along the way! And then came the great grandchildren, more than they ever expected after having only one child of their own! Christine is predeceased by her parents and her many siblings, as well as many family members. On January 8, 2021 she lost her hubby, Neil Robbins of 69 1/2 years. Christine is survived by her daughter Diane and husband Gregory Moody of Appleton; grandson Ryan and wife Amy of Waldoboro; granddaughter Marci and husband Shane Blakely of Appleton; great grandchildren: Jason, Hannah Jo, Andrew and Caleb Moody, Jasmine Brown and Brandon Brown, as well as two step great grandchildren, Lincoln and Marina Paul; as well as one sister Geneva Kinney of Warren. The family would like to thank Harbor Hill for their compassionate and supportive care for Christine while she was with them for her short stay. Thanks to the inhouse Hospice Care at WCGH. Per Christine's request there will be no services. Christine's final resting place will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Appleton where she will reside with her husband, many family members and friends. If anyone wishes to make contributions in Christine's memory, they may be made to Appleton Alumni Association, Attn: Dawn McLeod of Belfast. Hall's of Waldoboro has taken care of the arrangements.
