Bruce Ernest Campbell

Bruce Ernest Campbell, age 87 of Howell, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, April 6, 2021 after suffering a heart attack in San Antonio, Texas. Born in Detroit, MI on March 24, 1934, he was the son of the late Francis R. and the late Isabel M. (Purdy) Campbell. Beloved husband of Sally Campbell who predeceased him in death on November 20, 2020. They were married in 1956 at the First United Methodist Church of Howell. Beloved father of Susan “Sue” Campbell of Texas and Carol Campbell-Sunderland (Bob) of Florida. Grandfather to Daniel Sunderland and Sarah Sunderland Moseley (Michael) of Florida. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Loving brother of Jack W. Campbell of Tennessee, the late Francis P. Campbell, and the late James E. Campbell. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Howell. Bruce, a lifelong Howell area resident was a 1951 graduate of Howell High School and graduate of Ferris State College. Bruce was a pharmacist for over 50 years, owning his own drugstore, Campbell’s Drugs, also working at McPherson Hospital and Matthews Drug store. Baseball ran through his veins whether it was Howell High School or the Detroit Tigers. He loved Bennett field and spent many days picking up debris, cans and bottles to keep it safe for the kids to play. He was a proud Jaycee and Rotarian. Bruce loved puns, jokes, stories and music. He spent hours at his player piano belting out tunes to his wife, Sally. They shared many Friday nights at the Court House concerts. Member of the Howell First United Methodist Church, he was a volunteer at the Howell Opera House and for many other organizations. In later years, he became a member of the Livingston Lamplighters Barbershop Chorus. Memorial contributions are suggested to Livingston Lamplighters Barbershop Chorus or Howell First United Methodist Church. A joint Celebration of Life will be held for Bruce and Sally on Saturday, June 26, 2021, 1pm at the Howell First United Methodist Church, Bower Street, Howell, MI
