LeVern Schoening

LeVern Albert Schoening, son of Albert and Mabel (Scheel) Schoening was born on April 12, 1935 in Council Bluffs, IA. He graduated from Silver City High School in the Class of 1952. He was united in marriage to Norma Lea Heiman on April 21, 1954 in Mineola, IA. The couple made their home and raised their children on a farm north of Silver City. Early on in their marriage he worked at Snoboy in south Omaha and also did custom fertilizing. LeVern was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola and Farm Bureau of Pottawattamie County. LeVern enjoyed polka dancing, he was a huge supporter of his children, grandchildren and of the community. He loved spending time on the farm especially with his massey ferguson tractor. He played Santa Claus for many years. He never met a stranger he didn't know, and he was loved by many. LeVern is preceded in death by his beloved wife Norma, parents; step-mother; Doris Schoening; brother Dale Schoening. LeVern is survived by his children; Cindy Rinderer and her husband Jeff of Salina, KS, Nancy Lipes and her husband Jim of Glenwood, IA, David Schoening and his wife Linda of Glenwood, IA, LaDonna Coover and her husband Jon of Council Bluffs, IA, Gregg Schoening and his friend Chris Androy of Glenwood, IA; 10 grandchildren, Grant Coover, Julia Schoening, Matt Coover, Derrick Schoening, Melissa Booker, Tyler Schoening, Aaron Schoening, Michelle Zanders, Alyson Bree and Micole Gnatzig; 13 great grandchildren with 3 on the way; siblings, Edwin Schoening and his wife, Carol of Phoenix, AZ, LeRoy Schoening and his wife Donna of Mineola, Lorna Hiley of Salado, TX, Carol Tibben and her husband Roger of Glenwood, special friend, Norma Marr and her family; other relatives and host of many friends. The family expresses its heartfelt appreciation to Chasity Coover for her assistance with Levern and her love, support and help for them LeVern Schoening, 85, of Treynor, IA passed away on Saturday, April 3,2021 at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood with Pastor Luke Kuenzli officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7: 00 p.m. on Wednesday April 7, 2021 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood. Burial will be in the Mineola Cemetery in Mineola. The family suggests those that attend to wear masks and social distance. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to St John Lutheran Church in Mineola, Oak Township Fire and Rescue or Silver City Rescue
