Mary Ruth Bordman passed away April 4, 2021 at the age of 81 in San Antonio, TX. Born in Saratoga Springs, New York in 1939, Mary Ruth was a graduate of Albany Medical College and worked as a registered nurse at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida and Lamar, Colorado. She married Bernard S. Bordman in Miami Florida in 1966 and celebrated 50 years together. She was also a small business owner of the Red Door Hallmark store in Kingstree, S.C. Mary Ruth was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and friend to many and known for her strength, sense of humor, generosity, and coining the phrase with her family “Bordman Strong.” In Artesia, New Mexico Mary Ruth was a volunteer and sports fan of the Artesia Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs for many years and an original member of the Flaky Dames Investment Club. She was an active bridge player in every town she lived in including earning master points in the Fiesta Bridge Club in San Antonio at age 80. A beach lover, Mary Ruth was a resident of North Padre Island, Texas from 1995-2005 where she was active in the community, an avid entertainer, and daily beach walker. Granny, as she was called by her grandkids, taught generations of kids to play sports and games of all kinds including teaching a new generation of card players to play Spades. She is survived by her daughters, Judy Bordman Sarate, Jenny Bordman Meek, Jody Bordman Giles, and Ann Vandermeer; grandchildren, Kendra Howerton, Jason Kennedy, Erin Kennedy, Patrick Sarate, Kaycee Olive, Meghan Sarate, Erin Scott, Garrett Scott, Logan Meek, Madison Callison, TR Meek, Robin Giles, Ellie Meek, Reed Meek, and Kipling Giles. The family will celebrate Mary Ruth with a private memorial in Corpus Christi, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her name to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
