Kenneth "Kennie" Wayne Alvis Obituary

ALVIS, Kenneth “Kennie” Wayne, 68, passed on April 4, 2021, after a brief yet valiant battle against the COVID-19 virus. He is now united with his parents, Eugene and Dorothy Alvis. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 20 years and best friend, Sharon Alvis. Together as a family, they raised their two daughters, Courtney Watts (Steve) and Amie Seay (Kyle); and two sons, Matthew Bridges (Rachel) and Kenneth “KW” Alvis, at the time of their lives when they needed them most. He is also survived by another daughter, Angel Harris (Chris). He was a proud grandfather of one granddaughter and three grandsons, with another grandson due to be born in May. He was the only son of four children and leaves behind his three sisters, Jennie Miller, Nell Regali and Karen Fleming (Steve); his “favorite cousins” Jeff and Dennis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Kennie was born in Richmond, Va. on April 6, 1952. At a young age Kennie’s father sparked his love of cars by teaching him how to repair damaged cars, which became his career as a body technician. In 1990 he opened Alvis Body and Frame Shop, where he ran a successful business. Kennie’s confident and outgoing personality was a magnet for people of all walks of life, as he would willingly approach strangers eager to say hello and shake their hand. He will be remembered by his Hawaiian shirts, khaki pants and his extended horseshoe mustache. He wore a big smile and his laughter filled the room. He was a selfless man with a big heart and a lot of fun to be with. He enjoyed cars and boats, playing pool and hanging out with friends and family at his favorite restaurants and around his pool. His perfect day was riding on his boat on the water. Kennie led a good and full life. He was and is loved by his family and friends and will be missed beyond words by all who knew him. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Bliley’s-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, a private funeral ceremony will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at St. David’s Episcopal Church followed by a public graveside at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. David’s Episcopal Church, 1801 Camborne Rd., N. Chesterfield, Va. 23236 in Kennie’s memory.
