Gratha Farmer

Gratha V. Farmer was born December 10, 1933 in Brownsville, TN, the second oldest daughter of five children born to James and Beatrice (Winters) Vaughn.   Gratha passed away April 4, 2021, at home with her family by her side. Gratha Vaughn was united in Holy Matrimony to Leamon Farmer (Deceased) on August 26, 1952 and from that union she had five children, Leamon Jr., Kenneth, Arlene Sabrena, Donald Elbert, and Jennifer.   Gratha retired from Saint Mary’s Hospital where she worked as a surgical technician for many years. She also volunteered her time and worked at the election polls for her district. She was saved at an early age and attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she was a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, worked with the Drama Ministry, with the Clothing Ministry, and served on the Mother’s Board. She was an Eastern Star. She served the Lord with gladness and attended church regularly when she could. She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Vaughn; mother, Beatrice Vaughn; her son, Kenneth Farmer; brother, James Vaughn; sisters, Lillie Ruth Owens, Dale Sinor Burnett Taylor; and her niece, Virginia Dare White.  Her memory will be forever cherished by those she leaves behind, her children; Leamon, Jr. (Brenda) Farmer of Cleveland Heights, OH, (Patricia) Farmer of Decatur, IL, Donald (Felicia) Farmer of Springfield, IL, Arlene Sabrena Farmer of Stonecrest, GA, and Jennifer Farmer, Cedar Lakes, IN; sister, Earnett Robinson of Decatur, IL; sister-in-law, Ailine Vaughn of Humboldt, TN; grandchildren, Nikkie (Richard) Cash of Akron, OH; Donald, Jr. (Tonya) Farmer of  Beleville, IL; Alyssa Farmer, Ashley Farmer and Nia Farmer all of Springfield, IL; Brandon Powell of Decatur, IL; great-grandchildren, Brandon Cash, Ryan Cash, Damian Farmer, Skyla Farmer and Mason Powell; nieces, Joyce E. Vaughn, Francine (Chester) Owens, Linda  Jenkins, Annette (Kevin) Singletary, Trina (Varnell) Calvert, Ollie R. Owens, Kathy Reed, Annetha Hill, Sussian Taylor, Galyin (Angelo) Rose, Vickie Stokes and Donna Robinson; nephews, John Earl Vaughn, James L.
