James Elwood Simpson

Bedford, PA – James Elwood Simpson, 83, of Bedford, PA, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at UPMC Western Maryland.  Born February 20, 1938, in Cumberland, MD, Mr. Simpson of the son of the late Charles William Simpson and Ruth Ella Regina (Clites) Simpson.  He was also preceded in death by a son: Michael Wayne Simpson; a brother: Bill Simpson; and two sisters: Barbara Simpson and Shirley Barnes.  A United States Army Reservist, Jim retired from Potomac Edison with 34.5 years of services.  He was an avid bicyclist, duck pin bowler, hunter, and enjoyed hunting of mushrooms.  He was a former member of the Clockers Car Club and loved going to car shows.  Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years: Myna Kathleen (Shaffer) Simpson: and his sons: James Edward Simpson and wife, Debra; and Robert and Chantal Simpson.  He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Colby, Jamie, Max, Cole, TJ, Ally, and Annie; his great grandchildren: Graham, Parker, and Ellie: and his brother: Albert “Butch” Simpson and wife, Linda.  Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Friday, April 9, 2021, from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M.  A funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Denny Michael officiating.  Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
