John "Jack" F. Casey

<p>John &quot;Jack&quot; Casey passed away on April 4, 2020, at Garnet Health Medical Center, located in Wallkill, New York.</p> <p>Born on February 21, 1929 in Haverstraw, NY to parents Joseph and Nora (Murphy) Casey.</p> <p>After graduating from Haverstraw High School he enlisted in the US Navy during the Korean War.&nbsp; He served on the USS Juneau.</p> <p>Upon being honorably discharged he returned to his home town and was employed with Western Union as a lineman. He later changed jobs and began his career with Orange and Rockland Utilities, where he worked in various overhead line and management positions until retirement.</p> <p>It was during those early years with Western Union he met and then married the love of his life Joan Knapp.&nbsp; Married for over 65 years, they together raised their three children.&nbsp; As a young family they enjoyed time boating on the Hudson River, camping throughout the New England States, as well as Fishing and Hunting.</p> <p>Upon their retirements, Jack and Joan became &ldquo;Snowbirds&rdquo;, splitting their time between a country home near Cooperstown, NY and the beach near Bradenton, FL.&nbsp; In addition to playing golf together they traveled, cruising the Caribbean Islands as well as Alaska.</p> <p>Jack was a PER and Honorary Life Member with Haverstraw BPOE #877 and a 3rd Degree Member of Haverstraw Knights of Columbus.</p> <p>Jack is survived by his wife Joan, Daughter Jill Lamarch (AL) Harriman, NY.&nbsp; Sons John (Doris) Garnerville, NY.&nbsp; Bill Casey Pearl River, NY. (7) Grandchildren and (2) great grandchildren.</p> <p>He was pre-deceased by his sister Helen Hubert, Ridgefield Park, NJ.</p> <p>In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in John&rsquo;s name to Hospice of Orange&amp; Sullivan Counties, Inc.&nbsp; These can be arranged online at www.hospiceoforange.com.</p> <p>Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Thomas &amp; Brendan Flynn and the staff of Flynn Funeral &amp; Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc.</p> <p>To offer an online memorial please visit www.flynnfh.com</p>
