Leland Margot de Jong

Leland “Lee” Margot de Jong 1933-2021 Lee was born in San Francisco, California on July 22, 1933 to Leland and Freda Case. She graduated from Armstrong University with a degree in Administrative Assistance. She married Denis de Jong on October 4, 1952 at St. Jerome’s Church in El Cerrito, CA. They were blessed with 5 children. After graduation, Denis received a Naval Commission. After 3 years of active duty, he worked for Montgomery Wards for 25 years. Throughout many moves with the Navy and Denis’s work, Lee's time was filled with working, volunteering and being a loving daughter, wife, mom and grandmother. Following Denis’s retirement from Kohl’s in Wisconsin, they moved to Arizona to be close to his sister and family. After 8 years in Arizona, they settled in beautiful McCall, Idaho to be near their sons and family. McCall winters became too much after 8 years, and they decided to move to Meridian, Idaho. They made many trips to Texas and Arizona to visit family. Lee had treasured memories of reunions and vacations in McCall. She was always there for her family throughout the years and they for her. Lee was an avid reader and she loved to knit. She knit numerous prayer shawls, both for her family as well as for those in need. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorothy and nephew, Jim Worley. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Denis; sister-in-law, Suzanne, and children: Marc (Carole) of McCall, Gregg of TX, Scott (Debbie) of Donnelly, Denis Paul of Cascade and Marianne of TX, 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and numerous relatives. Lee died peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021. She was surrounded by her family, both at her bedside and also in spirit.
