Joyce M. Monfort, 81, of Eldon, passed away peacefully at home with her loved ones at her side on April 5, 2021. She was born on October 2, 1939 in Enon; a daughter of the late Hadley and Stella (Hardcastle) Thompson. She was united in marriage to William Monfort on August 1, 1991 in Miami, Oklahoma. She attended Eldon High School. For many years she worked at Brown Shoe factory before going to work at FASCO in 1976. She retired in 2004 after 28 years of service. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family, playing bingo, softball, volleyball, hunting and was a faithful member of Old Time Gospel church. Most of all she loved fishing. Joyce is survived by her husband of 29 years, William “Bill” Monfort; children, Randy Wood (Cindy), Gregory Wood (Matt), Brenda Harrelson (Mike), and Glenda Luttrell (Doug); stepchildren, Kevin, Dan and Jarrod Monfort; siblings, Glen Thompson (Debbie), and Coleen Mitchell (Jim); grandchildren, Terry Wood (Haley), Derek Wood (Lyndsey), Jordan Hammerstone and Camlyn Monfort; great-grandchildren, Ethan Wood, Adelle Wood, Karlee Wood, Brooklyn Wood, Jett Wood and Kassity Wood. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Lloyd Thompson, Gail Thompson, Carl Thompson, Wayne Thompson; sister, Doris Birdsong; and brother-in-law, John Lee. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Millard-Rekus Family Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 9, 2021 at Millard-Rekus Family Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett.
