Richard Scott McTague Obituary

Dighton- Richard Scott McTague, 67, died on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at his home in Dighton. He was born on January 23, 1954 in Heidelberg, Germany the son of Norman Scott & Amelia Francis (Rutnya) McTague. Richard grew up in a military family and lived in various places growing up. He graduated high school at Hopewell, Virginia and attended John Tyler Community College. He worked as a dog catcher and police officer before beginning his military career. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and did his basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He then was assigned as a Radar Tech at Fort Carson and later was a processing Sergeant at the Reception Battalion at Fort Jackson in Arcadia, California. From 1988 to 1989 he was stationed in Seoul, South Korea. He returned to the states and was assigned to the Inspectors General Office of the 6th Army at San Francisco. After his discharge he drove a truck for JB Hunt in Idaho and later moved to Boulder, Colorado and worked at the Holiday Inn and IBM. He then began a second military career as a fulltime active reserve in the Colorado National Guard. After that discharge he worked at Kobe BCT making medical equipment in Aurora, Colorado. He moved to Dodge City in 2006 and Dighton in 2020. He is survived by his Wife- Laurie McTague, 3 Sons- Richard Norman McTague, Patrick Thomas McTague and David Edward McTague all of Hubert, North Carolina, Step-Daughter- Cally White of Dighton, Brother- Matthew McTague of Virginia, 4 Sisters- Mary McTague Rogers of Ohio, Catherine McTague of Roanoke, Virginia, Barbie McTague Hairfield of Roanoke, Virginia and Patricia McTague of Philadelphia, 11 Grandchildren and 3 Step-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents and 2 Brothers- Peter McTague and Michael Patrick McTague. Funeral Service will be in Quantico, Virginia with burial in Quantico National Veterans Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Richard McTague Memorial Fund in care of Boomhower Funeral Home.
