Sandy Tsyr Yuh Lee Jan Obituary

Sandy Tsyr Yu Lee Jan was born April 5, 1932 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, to Pastor Cheng Ao Lee and Tsai Yeh Lee. Sandy was the youngest of five children and was known for her intelligence, athleticism, and leadership qualities. After obtaining a BA in piano performance, she started a private music teaching career. She married Dr. Richard Yih Pi Jan after he graduated from Taiwan National University Medical School. Sandy was a loving mother who raised her four daughters to be hard working, honest, brave and, above all, to love God and people. She taught her daughters from a young age that the most precious gift she could give them was not wealth, but rather wisdom and faith in God because these are things that cannot be taken away. She especially encouraged living as Jesus lived in helping the fatherless, caring for widows, and providing for the needy. In 1976, when Sandy was 44 years of age, with courage and determination, she and the Jan family immigrated to Argentina for 2 years and in 1978, to the United States. They faced hardship that all new immigrants face but their faith kept them strong. After her four daughters became well established and independent in the US, Richard was invited to practice at a missionary hospital in Taiwan. While Richard served as chief of the gastroenterology department in SinLau hospital in Tainan City, Sandy dedicated herself to various charity works including helping underprivileged women. After returning to the States for retirement, they lived near their family in New Jersey. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and tea time with her grandchildren. She was invested in the lives of the next generation and attended all their concerts, karate practices, swim meets, lacrosse games, and many other activities. She was the grandma who made the best cream puffs and her recipe is treasured by her grandchildren. In the last 14 years of her life, Sandy was lovingly cared for in the homes of her daughters. After a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease, Sandy went to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021. She is survived by her four daughters Jennifer, Linda, Helen, Nancy, seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Cremation was held privately under the direction of Ora L. Wooster Funeral Home, Clementon, NJ. Her ashes will be brought to Los Angeles, CA to be buried next to her beloved late husband. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at https://act.alz.org/site/TR/Events/Tributes-AlzheimersChampions?pxfid=676025&fr_id=1060&pg=fund to support Alzheimer's research in finding a cure for this devastating disease.
