Rosalie Hopkins Jones completed her journey here on April 3, 2021. Mrs. Jones was born February 28, 1935 in Ripley County, Doniphan, Missouri. She was the daughter of James Loyd Hopkins and Hilda Ernst Hopkins. 

Mrs. Jones was a member of the First Church of God in Poplar Bluff, Missouri where she served as a teacher and in several other capacities. She was a retired elementary and reading teacher, with all of her teaching spent in the Twin Rivers District, specifically in Qulin Elementary School. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Arkansas State University and her Master’s Degree from Southeast Missouri University. She was a former member of Kappa Delta PI, honorary society in education. 

She was a charter member of the Qulin Christian Ladies Group, served on the board of Qulin Nutrition Center, delivered meals and other volunteer work. She was active in the United Gospel Rescue Mission Auxiliary, serving on the board for a number of years. She served her Lord for over 70 years. 

In April of 1953, she was married to Billy R. Jones, who preceded her to heaven. Also preceding her to heaven was son, Lane Jones; brother, Donald Hopkins and great-grandson, Austin DeGaris. 

Mrs. Jones is survived by one brother, Bob Hopkins (Shirley) of Doniphan; two sisters, Norma Rorex of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Wilma Romine of Rockford, Illinois; one daughter, Lisa DeGaris (Ed) of Poplar Bluff and one daughter-in-law, Paula Jones of Austin, Texas; also surviving are five grandchildren, Christopher DeGaris (Michelle), Elizabeth Christian Kilhafner (Mark) and Ross DeGaris (Pam) all of Poplar Bluff, Dylan Jones (Sydney) of Taylor, Michigan and Jesse Jones of Austin, Texas; twelve great-grandchildren, Abby and Luke Christian, Annalise, Emma and Ashton DeGaris, Garen Thomas, Shianne Heatherly, Kara Thomas and Ryliegh, Natalie, Hailey and Jackson Kilhafner; three great-great-grandchildren, Brody Heatherly, Aubrey Burkhart, and Rowan Thomas. 

Visitation will be Thursday, April 8 from  noon - 2 p.m. followed by funeral services at First Church of God, Poplar Bluff with Rev. Ben Higgins and Rev. Brian Sharp officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, on Hwy. 21, Doniphan.

This was as she wrote it, she was always prepared and thoughtful to details. She didn’t want anyone to have to do this at this hard time. She will be sorely missed, as she was a precious part of so many lives.
