Jeanne C. (St. Pierre) Brien Obituary

Jeanne C. (St. Pierre) Brien, a long-time North Andover resident, passed away peacefully at Lawrence General Hospital on Tuesday, 3/30/21 at the age of 95. Born in Berlin, NH, in 1925 to the late Desneiges (Busque) and William H. St. Pierre, Jeanne graduated from Gorham High School in 1942. She married Alphonse R. Brien, in Cascade, NH, in 1948, and subsequently relocated to Lawrence, and then to North Andover where she had lived for the past 70 years. Jeanne was predeceased by her husband, daughter Rosemary J. Brodette, Esq., and son John W. Brien, Esq. She is survived by a son James A. Brien of Connecticut, daughter Suzanne M. Dodson of Maine, daughter Jane E. Henderson and her husband David B. Henderson of Cohasset, MA, daughter-in-law, Elizabeth A. (Brain) Brien of Salem, NH, and son-in-law Barry A. Brodette of North Andover. Jeanne also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, her sister Lorraine Martin, and brother Richard St. Pierre. Jeanne was predeceased by her siblings Pete, Henry, Doris, Norman, Rita, and Lucille. A communicant of St. Michael Parish in North Andover, Jeanne was a member of the St. Michael Guild and Women’s Sodality for many years, and she served as a leader of Girl Scout and Cub Scout troops. Jeanne was also a member of the Ladies of Merrimack, the North Andover Women’s Club, and she was active in the F.I.S.H. and Moving On organizations. Jeanne’s life experiences were many and varied. In 1947 she was crowned Winter Carnival Queen at the Nansen Ski Jump near Berlin, NH. Her first job was as a secretary at the Brown Company paper mill in Berlin. After relocating to the Merrimack Valley she became the co-owner of Al Brien’s Furniture, TV & Appliance, Inc. in Lawrence, which she and her husband operated for 40 years. In 1983, Jeanne earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Cum Laude, in Psychology from Merrimack College. In the 1980’s she founded Jeanne Brien Realty in North Andover and was a member of the Massachusetts Board of Realtors. Jeanne was also an accomplished knitter whose beautiful Irish knit sweaters are still proudly worn by many family members and friends. Jeanne and Al were also fortunate to have travelled extensively throughout the United States, and much of Canada and Europe. But of all her interests, nothing surpassed her love of watching the growth and development of her 36 grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Funeral Mass open to family and friends will be celebrated on Saturday, April 10th at 11:30AM at St. Michael Church, 196 Main St., North Andover, followed by burial at Ridgewood Cemetery, in North Andover.
