Wanda Jane Hamby, 72, of Hagerstown, passed away at home in the company of family on Sunday, April 4, 2021. Born on July 7, 1948 in Hagerstown, Wanda was the daughter of Frances Connie (Conrad) Smith and the late Richard Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband Terry Dale Hamby, who passed away August 30, 2018. Wanda worked in the cafeteria for Washington County Public Schools. She loved animals and opened her home to any animals in need of one. Wanda is survived by her daughters Melissa Needy of Hagerstown, and Rebecca Hamby of Frederick; her brothers Greg Smith and Ronnie Smith, both of Hagerstown; and her sister, Carol Forcino of Hagerstown. She was also survived by her grandchildren Jeremy, Devin, and Jordan Forrest; Matthew Riffle; Logan and Erin Needy; and her great-grandson, Royal Needy; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by her cat, Ellie. The family wishes to thank everyone who offered care and support during Wanda's final months, and would like to give Hospice of Washington County a special thank you for their work. A visitation will be held at Rest Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
